Steve Comes Of Age At Nicholsons
A partner at Lincolnshire chartered accountants Nicholsons is celebrating 21 years with the firm this month.
Steve Kerby joined the firm in 1988, becoming a partner two years later, having spent seven years working at both small and large accountancy firms, where he gained experience in the preparation of small business accounts and the audit of major public companies.
He also has a particular interest in taxation, and is the firm"s senior tax specialist, dealing with many of the more complex tax planning situations that arise, as well as looking after a portfolio of general practice clients.
In his time with the firm, he has been engaged in all types of tax planning, relating to Corporation Tax, Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax. He has been closely involved with the sale of several family companies and has assisted in the creation of a substantial number of family trusts, becoming a trustee for a number of them.
He said: "I think having worked with firms of varying sizes, I enjoy being at Nicholsons because we"re small enough to offer a friendly service and care about our clients" business, and large enough to have the in-house expertise we need among the partners to deal with any situation that may arise.
"My clients include individuals, schools and all manner of diverse businesses from cars to construction, so there"s a great deal of variety in my work.
"The job has changed out of all recognition since I started "" the standard of companies" record-keeping is far higher, and computerisation means we can access the information we need far more quickly, from wherever we like. Unfortunately, HM Revenue and Customs seem to be the only people who haven"t improved in that time!"
Outside of work, Steve"s interests include foreign travel and football.
