This doesn't mean that you have to spend a fortune, but you do need to look like your site is owned by a legitimate company running a good business. You also need to test it thoroughly before you start promoting it to make sure all links, forms, and functions work in the way that they are intended to.

You should also test your site frequently. Split testing is a very valuable online method for increasing profits. Drive a certain amount of traffic to your site and measure your conversion rate. Then, change one thing about your site, something as similar as the ordering of your sales pitch or the background color, and measure the conversion rate on the next raft of traffic the same size. Comparing your results can give you insight to changes you should or should not make on the site.
