One of the most common questions I get asked with regards to athletic training is how can a basketball


or volleyball player increase their vertical leap. This is a valid question, because obviously the higher you can jump, the more advantage you have in these respective sports. In this article I am going to share with you 3 tips that you can use to jump higher, and be more productive in your sport.

1. The first thing that you need to do to get a 40 inch vertical is eat the right foods. Nutrition is a big part of any training program, and increasing your vertical leap is not different. If you want to learn how to jump higher in basketball, then you must eat right. Eat a lot of protein, as these are the building blocks of strong muscles. In addition, while you need some carbs for energy, do not over do it because they store as fats.

2. In addition to proper nutrition, it is vital that you stretch. Proper stretching alone can increase your vertical leap, but you have to do it the right way. For instance, some people stretch for three to five seconds, and think that is sufficient. However, in order to stretch properly, you should hold the stretch for 15-30 seconds. This will truly stretch your muscles, and keep you from pulling them while exercising.

3. The next thing that you must do is perform the proper exercises in order to learn how to jump higher in basketball. Some of the more common exercises are calf raises, and squats. These two exercises work well, and you also want to make sure that you include some form of plyometric exercise into your workout.
